CAPAware was formed 10+ years ago in Austin, Texas in response to an immediate need expressed by a fortune 500 company who supplied products to the automotive industry. The fortune 500 company needed a quick solution for tracking 200+ suppliers world-wide. They had trouble providing their key customer, a Japanese automobile manufacturing company, with the status of corrective actions for quality problems found in the field. They needed to demonstrate to their customer that they were implementing a process to ensure quality incidents were tracked and acted upon using a systematic method. The CAPAware tool, developed quickly, satisfied the concerns of the Japanese automotive customer. From this prototype, a commercial product was developed to manage and track defective product using a closed loop corrective action process.
In 2013 an Audit module was added to satisfy the needs of an existing customer.
